Author Study Essay for Bonus
 
 
Follow the directions that you find below.  You may do this essay only over the authors on the Author Links page.  You may complete this project for bonus as many times as you want until you attain a 100% in my class or until you run out of authors on the Author Links page.
 
Step 1: Pick an author off the Author Links page.

Step 2: Then follow the two links for your chosen author that are given on the page and then write a 400 or more word essay about the author.  Make sure you answer all of the below questions in the essay.

Questions

  1. When and where was the author born and when and where did he or she die?
  2. What did the author's early life/childhood (before he or she began writing) consist of (what did they do, where did they live, etc)?
  3. What did the main portion of the author's life (jobs besides writing, family, did they get married, etc.) consist of?
  4. When, why, and what (poetry, plays, novels, etc) did the author begin writing?
  5. What are some of the author's most famous works?
  6. When did the author become famous?

Step 4: Once you have your essay written take a look at this rubric to see how your essay will be graded. 

Step 5: Once you have revised your essay print it and the rubric out and turn it in to me.  To print the rubric, select/highlight everything under the four categories, right click, and then click on 'Print'.
