Hello parents, students and friends, The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri recently held the 12th annual Children’s Art Festival at the Arts Council Gallery in Cape Girardeau. Artwork of 18 Woodland students—in grades 3 through 6—was displayed at the gallery from Feb. 3 through Feb. 24. One piece of art by 4th grader Samantha Beal was selected to be hung in Rep. Shelley Keeney’s office in Jefferson City, and Sixth grader Emily Hayden won 1st place among all sixth grade entries! Also, 6th grader Tyana Mouser and 4th grader Mason Dowd both received Honorable Mention recognition. Photographs of all four of these and other winning artworks were published in a booklet handed out at the reception. Please congratulate these students—this is a great honor for them and our school; hundreds of people in Southeast Missouri (and in Samantha’s case, the State Capitol) have seen or will view their artworks. Here is a list of the other students from Woodland whose artworks were at the gallery. They are to be congratulated as well; their work was also on display--and because they did a great job and deserve it! 3rd grade: Hayden Masters, Ian Myer, Dillon Filer, Emma Scott, Jamon Frymire 4th Grade: Astonish Fann, Emma Cook, Blake Matheney 5th Grade: Heather Clowes, Wyatt Allen, Gavin Atchinson, James Ricketts 6th grade: Jeanette Graves, Rebekah Page, Tyler Massa Thank you— Marise Compass K-6 Art Teacher |
