The treasure chest is intended to reward the students for several different reasons. The student must receive 10 tickets from the teacher in order to "break" open the chest. There are a variety of prizes including, free homework passes, pencils, pens, erasers, stamps, bracelets, yo-yo's, and other fun stuff. There are several ways to earn tickets for the chest, but here are a few: 1) To bring back your homework folder signed on Mondays 2) Extreme Good Behavior in class 3) Other signed notes returned ASAP 4) Buying books out of classroom book orders. 5) Many other things!!!!!
The Homework/VIP (Very Important Papers) folder is an aid in helping me communicate with the parents on how the students are doing on their assignments. The folder is sent home weekly on Fridays with the graded work that the student has completed for the week. It is the parents responsibility to look over and discuss the grades of the papers with their child. I then expect the folder to be signed by the parent or a responsible adult in charge of the student. The students then return their folders on Monday and receive a coupon and a sticker for the folder chart. They also have a second chance to be rewarded by bringing the folder back on Tuesday in which they will receive a sticker only. If they bring their folder back every week on time then they will be rewarded with a movie at the end of the quarter. |
