The students are encouraged to read independently and take quizzes on available books. They are monitored weekly and rewarded quarterly for their progress. They are expected to read and pass 20 quizzes a quarter for a total of 80 books for the year. For every quiz they pass, a loop of a designated color is put up on the ceiling allowing for a chain to be made. This allows for the students to visually see their progress toward their goals. Below is a graph showing the progress of how the students are doing toward their goals. The graph is made in intervals of two. It will only show how many books your child has read in even numbers. For example, if they have read 8 books then you will see a set of books going to the number 8. However, if they have read 5 books the graph will show that they have only read 4 books. Ask your child what their color is so that you can compare them to the rest of the class.
